Missionaries

A
common sight throughout our Tour – students
reading our literature!
|
More
than 20 people from five different states participated
in this first spring campus Tour in 2008. We started
out at the University of Missouri-Columbia on Monday.
The weather was rainy, but twice the rain stopped
just before class breaks! We thanked the Lord for
this, as we were able to pour thousands of pieces
of literature into the campus! |

| In
the evening, we made a busy intersection stop as
everyone was driving home from work for the day.
We set up outside a Planned Parenthood on a very
busy street. Babies are murdered at this Planned
Parenthood. The place was very busy. When we set
up outside, it was as though an explosion took place.
Business as usual came to an end, as women and workers
came out to contend with us. They were clearly upset.
Four squad cars of police arrived. The press showed
up. There was no small stir!Soon the place was nearly
empty, as the clients left and the workers ran around
outside. |

The
next day, Tuesday, we split the group between Central
Missouri State University in Warrensburg and North
West Missouri State in Marysville. Both teams had
a great day of ministry as thousands of pieces of
literature went out and many conversations were
had with students.
Pastor Matt Trewhella led the North West State team.
When they were done, he went into the student union
to get a coffee. While waiting for his order, he
realized that all the students in the coffee shop
were talking about abortion. As he walked through
the union to leave, he noticed students talking
about and debating abortion everywhere! Students
were gathered in groups of |
two
to four, looking at our literature, discussing abortion.
This is the typeof impact you want to see on a campus
when you make a stop there!
Jason Storms, who led the Central State Missouri
team, had a similar experience. He too went into
their student union to get a coffee before leaving,
and everywhere students were talking about abortion.
When he went to pay, one cashier said to the other
cashier that she thought the photos were very graphic.
But the other cashier responded that the photos
were truthful though because her brother, who works
at a hospital where abortions are done, found some
aborted babies there and described to her how awful
they looked. |

For
the evening busy intersection stop, the two groups
reconvened and set up on Roe Avenue in Kansas City.
The thought was that we would show those traveling
home from work what babies killed by the Roe decision
look like while they traveled on Roe Avenue. Unbeknownst
to us, we had set up between two abortion clinics
which were situated one block away in each direction
from where we were set up. A perfect location! |

On
Wednesday, we decided for a number of reasons to
make a foray into Kansas. We went to the University
of Kansas in nearby Lawrence. This was an excellent
day of ministry also! Once again, we poured thousands
of pieces of literature into the campus. Many, many
conversations were had with the students, including
those dealing with salvation through Christ alone.
A large group of students gathered around Jason
Storms as he preached. The crowd stayed so long
that we didn’t leave the campus until 4:30
p.m.! |

Part of the scene in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
|
The
final day of the tour, we had planned to go to
Truman State University in Kirksville. Classes
were cancelled however because of a conference.
We’ve never had this happen before. The
weather was rainy like Monday too. So, we decided
to go to nearby Ft. Madison, Iowa, where Dan and
Donna Holman had been attacked by citizens in
the past and abused by the governing authorities.
After
setting up there, we encountered many unhappy
campers. The police soon arrived in several squad
cars. They watched us for awhile and then simply
left. We also encountered many who were glad we
were there and thanked us for our efforts. Two
people driving by, a brother and sister, stopped
when they saw us and asked to help! They stood
with signs for nearly an hour. |
|
This
girl came out with a sign which said “choice”
to counterprotest us. By providence, the sign
before her and the sign after her said “choice”
on them. Hence, passers-by thought she was part
of our line-up! |

Our
prayer is that the Lord would continue to work in the
hearts and minds of all those we encountered along the
way! That those who do not know the Lord would be moved
with repentance, and that those who do know the Lord
would no longer be like the priest and Levite who passed
by on the other side of the road, but rather be like
the Samaritan and take action on behalf of their preborn
neighbors in need!
